Job Description:
Our client is a well-established subcontract machine shop based in the Halesowen area. They specialise in small batch and one-off components across a wide range of industries, including aerospace and specialist engineering.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator (Lathes) to join their skilled and friendly team.
The Role
You will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes to manufacture precision components to exact specifications.
Key responsibilities:
- Programme, set, and operate CNC lathes (including Haas SL30Y)
- Produce CNC programs using OneCNC CAD/CAM (XR8)
- Read and interpret engineering drawings (metric & imperial)
- Manufacture small batch and one-off components
- Carry out machining to tight tolerances and deadlines
- Produce jigs and fixtures where required
- Support continuous improvement of manufacturing processes
- Assist in training and development of other team members
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator (lathes)
- Experience with Haas machines (SL30Y preferred)
- Familiarity with OneCNC CAD/CAM (XR8)
- Apprentice trained or equivalent with minimum 5 years’ experience
- Strong ability to read engineering drawings
- Experience within a precision manufacturing environment
- Flexible, proactive, and team-focused approach
Working Hours
- 40 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- Shifts: 6:00am – 2:00pm or 7:00am – 3:00pm
- Overtime available, including occasional Saturdays
