The Opportunity

We are working with an established manufacturing business in West Bromwich to recruit a proactive, hands-on Quality Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional who enjoys working closely with manufacturing, engineering and logistics teams, investigating technical issues and driving continuous improvement.

You will play a key role in maintaining the Quality Management System, supporting customer investigations, ensuring product conformity and improving quality performance across the operation.

ISO 9001 knowledge is essential. Experience with UL and ATEX requirements would be advantageous but is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 and applicable customer requirements.
  • Investigate customer complaints, internal non-conformances and manufacturing process failures.
  • Lead root cause investigations using techniques such as 8D, 5 Whys and fishbone analysis.
  • Coordinate containment, corrective and preventive actions, ensuring actions are completed on time and their effectiveness is verified.
  • Provide practical quality support to production, assembly, warehouse, technical and engineering teams.
  • Support first-off, in-process and final inspections, product validation, testing, traceability and product release.
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including procedures, work instructions, control plans, inspection records and customer quality packs.
  • Support product and process approvals, including PPAP, First Article Inspection (FAI), Certificates of Conformity and Material Test Certificates.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external and customer audits.
  • Monitor quality KPIs and identify opportunities to reduce defects, repeat issues, customer complaints, scrap and rework.
  • Carry out product testing and evaluation against relevant specifications and customer requirements.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least three years’ experience in a Quality Engineering role or equivalent manufacturing quality position.
  • A good understanding of ISO 9001 and Quality Management Systems.
  • Practical experience investigating customer complaints and internal non-conformances.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action methods, including 8D, 5 Whys or fishbone analysis.
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, assembly, electrical products, cable management or a similar technical environment.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and inspection standards.
  • An understanding of inspection, testing, process control and product release.
  • Familiarity with PPAP, FAI, control plans, process flow diagrams or FMEA.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge non-conforming practices professionally.
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to make evidence-based decisions.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of UL or ATEX requirements would be beneficial, as would an engineering-related qualification.

What’s on Offer?

  • Salary of £30,000–£40,000, depending on experience.
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm.
  • 25 days’ annual leave.
  • Christmas shutdown.
  • Companywide bonus scheme.
  • Company pension and life assurance.
  • Training and development opportunities.
  • Additional employee benefits, including discounted gym membership, a cash health plan and onsite parking.
